Hello Pennsylvania! I’m going to be giving two workshops and a presentation this coming Earth Day/Arbor Day Weekend at Terrain at Styer’s in Glen Mills, PA.
Where: Terrain at Styer’s
914 Baltimore Pike, Glen Mills, PA, USA
When: Saturday, April 25, 2009 and Sunday, April 26, 2009.
Saturday: Windowsill Herb Gardening Workshop 11am & Container Gardening Workshop 2pm
Sunday: Presentation on Growing Food 12pm {Book signing and discussion to follow}
As you may know, Terrain is the garden center recently opened by the company that owns Urban Outfitters and Anthropologie. It will be interesting to see first-hand how they have adjusted their retail approach to gardening. Although, I will say that the fact that they have a delicious-sounding cafe on site already gives them a big plus one in their favor. Debra Prinzing of Shed Style recently uploaded some photos she took of the store and it looks like a place capable of prying a few dollars out of my wallet. F-A-N-C-Y.
Fortunately, they have priced the workshops affordably so that a variety of people can attend. And of course, I will have lots of thrifty tips and tricks for you.

I just visited terrain this weekend — gorgeous, pried more than a few dollars from my clenched fist. How sad I am that I’ll be out of town, and will miss your workshops! Enjoy PA/Philly — it’s pretty this time of year.
I see Styers calls the weekend event “Heart Your Habitat”. This has been my biggest challenge during more than 15 gardening seasons in the same spot. I’m now loving it for the opportunities it gives me to grow food crops instead of struggling with perennials & other ornamentals ill-suited to the conditions. You’ve helped me see what is possible two stories above ground plus how beautiful, fun, surprising and satisfying a food garden can be.
unrelated to this post but I love the use of Timmies paper cups (to start seedlings)off to the side under daily botanicals:) Great idea!
i’m jealous. i’d love to visit terrain and also to attend a workshop of yours! i hope you take lots of photos it seems like a beautiful space.
Gayla! I can’t wait for this weekend- I am all signed up for the herb windowsill container workshop and couldn’t be more excited. Terrain is such a lovely gardening haven… btw the website says it starts at 11a.m. but you say noon? which is true?
HI Gayla, gee, thanks so much for sending You Grow Girl’s readers to see my Terrain photo gallery ~ nice to make the connection. I hope you have an awesome visit to teach/speak there. You will be wowed, I guarantee it.
cheers, Debra
Kelly: It’s at 11am. That was my typo!
I think I would LOVE to work at this store. Of course then I would probably also be poor. Drooling over the pots and fun looking things!!
How much I wish there were a shop like terrain in Hong Kong. It’s beautiful cafe surely looks like a place where I would like to hang out for a few good hours :)
