…Because I had to post something a little more optimistic. Both of these Polaroids were taken this morning on my rooftop. The ‘Miniature White‘ cucumber variety is a lot less yellow then as seen in this photo as the Polaroid film has a yellow cast. It is the largest of a bunch of cucumbers that are soon to be harvested from the rooftop garden. The plant is growing in a garbage bin and the zinnias are growing in an old flour canister.
You can see the photos larger here.
i may have to resort to using more containers. each year i’ve tried experimenting by growing more varieties of veggies. i find myself underestimating the size of containers i should use and my plants tend to outgrow them. i was curious – what size is the bin with the cucumbers?
Wow! I love the thought of white cucumbers – I’ll have to try that next year (since this is my first year having cucumbers at all, and it’s going really great!).. WHere do you get seeds if you don’t really need 10,000 seeds at once?
Maria: You can get them here
ercy: I’m away right now but I’m guessing that one is about 2 feet deep at least. The bigger the better because cucumbers need a lot of water. Too much drought will make unhealthy plants and lousy cucumbers.
