HELP. Need Bags

I’m working on a project that requires lots and lots of plastic shopping bags. There is only one small problem: I don’t have any! Our family committed ourselves to eliminating the plastic shopping bag from our lives and we’ve done it. Yeah, I know, “Where’s my big ass eco warrior medal?” Anyways, little by little our remaining stash of bags was whittled down with no new bags coming in. And all was right with the world until I decided to make a project utilizing plastic bags and we didn’t have any.

I know someone out there has got a stockpile that they’re just itching to be rid of. Rest assured your plastic bags will find a good home. They are going to a better place.

The details: I am specifically looking for colourful bags. They can be any colour except white.

I know. How demanding an I get? I’ve gone from “HELP, GIVE ME YOUR BAGS!” to “Your bags are not good enough for me.” I’m sorry, I know white bags make up the bulk of what’s out there. I just don’t need them. White bags with coloured prints are cool.

Please email me and we can discuss. I’d be happy to compensate your shipping costs in some way.

  1. I have some for you! Although I have stopped taking them for a number of years now, I still have a huge bag under the sink from years of of saving them – I am a confirmed packrat and couldn’t throw them out. I’ve sorted through them and saved the interesting one for you. You can come grab them any time this week- I live at Dundas W and Roncey so I think you are close by.

Added bonus- the kitten is having a hayday romping through the remainder- I dumped them on the kitchen floor to find the pretty coloured ones. I think I’ll leave them there for the day to keep her occupied so she stops walking on the keyboard while I type.

  2. If you’re near any large grocery chain stores, check their entry areas because often they have a receptacle where customers can “recycle” their plastic bags.

  3. Hmmm, I’ll sift through my blue box and see what I can find. Incidentally, I came home recently with a fantastic Old Navy bag – latest ones are blue & yellow. Very funky.

  4. I don’t have any right now but will keep you in mind if we get some. We have been using reusable bags for our grocery trips and the few plastic bags we get are used for diaper disposable(I know I know) We really are being green it just doesn’t sound like it. :)

  5. Hi,
I could help you out. Although we use canvas bags at the grocery we have quite a few plastic ones on hand for dog walking.
Let me know. I have some bright yellow.

P.S. we have relocated to Iowa but haven’t changed our email from Idaho yet. Oh wellll…..

  6. I shall try to see if my friend ridded herself of all her colorful boutique bags yet, I do believe I saw them sitting in a pile in her room as they have for years not too long ago…

Also, rudely and without your permission I have a teenie tiny review of this awesome blog located here:

I hope you don’t mind, and if you do I can delete it.

  7. Sobey’s at Dupont & Shaw has a recycle bin for bags.

I know, at the very least, I have large yellow bags from the Bay. Interested? I drive roughly through your neighbourhood most days to and from work, so maybe I could drop them off to you? I’m sure I probably have some other colours too, I just haven’t been through “the collection” in a while.

  8. I might have some, but the miles to send them from Florida might not be worth the good of recycling. If you don’t get enough from others closer, then I’ll send some of my more interesting ones (if I haven’t used them as bathroom trash bags yet).

  9. I have a number – and do they all have to be shopping bags? I have little kids, so have an enormous number of milk bags that are either red and white, or blue and white!

    I’m in Toronto – Davenport/Dovercourt!

  10. I was in the same predicament recently…went to the local grocery store where they collect used bags for recycling, spoke to manager and there you have it. They let me take some, not all. Not colorful though. Maybe give that a try.

  11. Why don’t you try Jewel or other chains that have bins to recycle their bags in the entrance way. I’m sure if you asked them they wouldn’t mind :-)
