We are experiencing germination at the greenhouse. No matter how many times I do this it is somehow always such a surprise that these first stirrings of life will eventually turn into big plants. Big plants that I will eventually eat.

I know, it’s such an exciting thought, isn’t it?
Yes. Exciting & hopeful.
With all the talk about seeds & seedlings I had to find a good quote. I like this one:
Though I do not believe that a plant will spring up where no seed has been, I have great faith in a seed. Convince me that you have a seed there, and I am prepared to expect wonders.
– Henry David Thoreau
I find myself looking forward to getting up each morning so I can look at all my babies. :)
Some of my basil seedlings now have actual basil leaves and they smell like basil too!! Very exciting!
That’s the best thing about herb seedlings – they smell herby right away.
It’s so exciting looking at your seedlings! You are right, no matter how many times you do this, it never gets old.
When will you transplant them, and into what?
That’s so very exciting. Looking at that picture I can almost smell the basil!
King of Kailua: These aren’t my seedlings. They belong to one of the growing collective members.
