And just like that we’ve gone from summer to fall. I could see the changes coming: the bean plants turning yellow and then brown; then, of course, that first colourful fallen leaf on the sidewalk. Despite these subtle signs, this year fall came suddenly, almost painfully. For that reason I thought it would be good therapy to do a prompt that could be used as a reminder of the wonderful things that come with the change in the season. As always, you are also encouraged to accentuate the negative if that’s the way you’d prefer to go.
Grow Write Guild Prompt #12: Describe fall in your garden in 5 to 10 words.
Further Notes and Questions:
- You can approach these words as a collection of descriptions, or make them work together as a short poem or even just one sentence.
- This prompt keeps it simple with just a few words, but you can also choose to take a few of those words and expand into a larger piece.

Didn’t take off as planned, but flourished in unexpected ways.
I like the mix of prompts. If you’re super busy it might be fun to have an open prompt where everyone can write about something different, keeping the momentum going on a week when you just need a break. It could even be based around one word, type of plant, a review or infoshare of something we’ve read or found online, etc. I love the community aspect of this, not just writing on my own. I’m looking forward to how this will shift and keep us thinking in the coming months. Thanks and keep up the good work!

I love fall it use to be my favorite time of year but I am so in love with spring the last few years. Fall is still very special to me I love all the sights sounds and smells of the changing of the season. Looking forward to a color filled Autumn! Happy Autumn!! :-)
I love the change in the air autumn brings as well as the gold and purple in my garden from the asters and goldenrod.
Stepping outside, unexpected color and texture takes your breath away.
