Lily of the Valley (Convallaria majalis)

We’ve been enjoying the heady aroma of Lily of the Valley on our desks recently. The other day, I happened upon a field of Lily of the Valley while searching for a secluded spot to “answer the call of nature” on a field trip to a local conservation area. Let me tell you, the experience of squatting amidst a field of aromatic Lily of the Valley is a far cry from the one I would have had, had I chosen to use one of the on-site outhouses. No contest.

  1. That fragrance reminds me of my trips to Sweden — I always had some in my bedroom when we went to visit. Doesn’t grow wild in my part of Calif…

  2. I do have a favourite May flower. This is it.

Beautiful photo, Gayla. Now also one of my favourites. love the sunny background.

  3. I miss that heady spring fragrance so much I invested in Crabtree & Evelyn’s Lily of the Valley perfume. Definitely worth it. Yet, still not quite the same as the original.
