I’m not even sure how a whole sweet potato got in there in the first place, but this one really wanted to grow.
That giant pile of wood chips in the background is the result of a large weed tree that fell down and flattened a portion of our community garden, including our ramshackle compost bin. But Davin, our resident Compost Technician keeps plugging away at it, undeterred. Proof positive that one does not require a proper bin with four sides and a top to turn garden and kitchen waste into compost.
I just built raised beds and tossed in some compost. I’ve had about 10 seedlings come up, and I don’t remember planting any of them. I just take them out gently and put them into pots to see if they get any bigger.
But the question remains: Did you plant it?
Ha! No. Put it back into the compost. Too late in the season here for sweet potato. It will be dead from the cold by October.

With regard to your new website when I view the site I have noticed that on the main page the Daily “Title” overlaps the Date the post was created. Also when viewing the comments on a post the commentors picture icon overlaps the responses making it difficult to read.
Hope this info helps rather then causing you more stress.

Ha ha! I have one of those growing in the kitchen. And I just bought a second copy of your book, a friend stole the first one. I’m going to make a shiso slushie (with gin).
