Ten Handmade Gifts For Gardeners

This started out as a general gardener’s gift guide; however, I found lots of great handmade items on Etsy and decided to keep going.

Walnut Garden Dibble $18.00: I think I like this dibble more than my well-worn favorite. It’s made of a beautiful, salvaged dark wood and the price is very fair for handmade. I’ve thought of switching to a metal dibble, but the notches up the sides that mark inches are invaluable when planting bulbs.

Dandelion Blossom Necklace $15.00: In a word: mesmerizing.

Purslane T-shirt: One gardener’s weed is another’s lunch.

Garden Tools Letterpress Notes $11:00

Hanging Bird Feeder $25.00: This hanging bird feeder is gorgeous, modern, and affordable, but if I hung it up at my place, the squirrels would have a field day. Perhaps you or your friend live in a squirrel-free utopia?

Cerulean Planter (Set of Five) $58: These planters are too tiny for anything more than a small cactus or succulent, but they sure are pretty. I would pair them with blue chalk sticks (Senecio archeri) or a tiny orostachys.

Ceramic Bud Vase $28.80: You won’t find this at Pottery Barn.

Porcelain Tea Pod Set $128.00: For the herb gardener who loves their tea.

Reclaimed Wood Seed Starting Trays DIY Kit (Pack of 10) $95.00: Within the last few years I’ve come around to seed starting in shallow wooden trays. I particularly like these for growing cut and come again salad mixes and arugula. They are also available individually if your gardening friend doesn’t need 10 trays.

Gardening Knife $55.00: A gardening knife is surprisingly handy. I really need to get one for myself. These are handmade from a recycled saw blade and old leather shoes. Strange, but also awesome.

  1. nice choices, thinking that I have scavenged chair leg to use as dibble,

like your weed/lunch line too, I grow puslane & lambsquarters on purpose

  2. I love the gardener’s knife- I can see that coming in handy when I’m removing root bound plants from pots this Spring. And the dandelion necklace! That jewelry shop has a fantastic “ball of yarn” necklace that is very cool too.

  3. I was just looking at those cedar trays yesterday – put them in my faves and thinking of buying, I’ll give 5 to my mom for her new greenhouse and keep 5 for myself. Love those handmade pots – so beautiful!
