Gardening Life – Green Talk

From: Gardening Life Magazine (June 05)

“Sure, Toronto’s Gayla Trail may have written You Grow Girl: The Groundbreaking Guide to gardening (Fireside, $22), but she’s a most unlikely plant guru — unless you count the fact that she grew her first parsley at the age of five. Her new book is an offshoot of, a wry on-line mix of articles and forums that the graphic designer launched five years ago for young urbanites who garden. (Trail herself does so on her deck, in a community plot and in a patch beside her building.) When visitors to the web site began asking questions, “it pushed me to share what I knew,” she says. And, later, to write the book, which offers tips on such topics as growing veggies on a fire escape or making unusual garden aprons. Consider it the ideal gift for those who like a little irreverence with their rhodos. -T.S.”
