English Daisy (Bellis perennis)

I took this picture back in April on a trip to San Francisco — I only just scanned the film this weekend. These daisies were completely covering the grassy area behind a MUNI stop where I was waiting for a bus. And so, amazed by the blanket of color, I proceeded to crouch in the grass with several cameras splayed around me to capture it. English Daisies don’t just up and grow in the grass on their own here! Some gardeners actually buy them in pots and put them in the garden on purpose.

Plus it was spring and I was riding off a constant living things and colors high. Everything was beautiful. Three months into the growing season and that high hasn’t worn off.

  1. I love English daisies and bought some one time, but a critter of some sort ate the whole plants! Must have been delicious. Neat photo.
