Calendula ‘Antares Flashback’

I am currently growing two similar calendula varieties. I believe the flowers in this photo are ‘Antares Flashback’ and the other variety is ‘Triangle Flashback.’

But seriously. This has become like a game of spot the difference.

I was sure I kept them correctly labeled throughout the growing and planting process but with multiple flashbacks simultaneously in play who can tell the difference? I’m barely holding my shit together as it is.*

*I know. That joke is cheese. Guffaw.

  1. This one goes on next year’s seed list — right after ‘Triangle Flashback’. Did you get the seeds from Urban Harvest, too? I will be such a happy gardener in July/August 2009 if I have a few of these blooming. (These are the most difficult months on my balcony.)

I love the subject, composition, focus and colour contrasts of this photo. I’d put it up on a wall. (Hint: are you planning next year’s calendar?)

  2. Elaine: Yes. Urban Harvest sells both types. These are turning out to be fantastic. They’re not as strongly medicinal as regular calendula but I like the colour of these dried and fresh on salads.

RE: the calendar: I was just thinking about whether doing a calendar is possible this year. I have a HUGE project deadline looming and it is a marathon as-is. I would hate to miss a year but I might not have a choice.
